The Catwalker and the Catwalker’s Intern was first exhibited in Weird Capitalism at Transfer Gallery, NYC, 2018. Produced on a laptop in coffee shops around Manhattan and Brooklyn on the months leading up to the exhibition, the moving image component of the sculpture is based on something I saw in Manhattan one morning – two people on one bike, and both were taking selfies. It was intended as an appropriate portrait of NYC in late-stage capitalism. The video works in this show were installed in food delivery backpacks, from which hung Soviet Socialist Realism paintings that were laser etched onto LED illuminated glass.
