The form/geometry for ‘Vanitas’ was produced using one of Microsoft’s publicly available 3D model generating AI repositories. The slop guillotine geometry was then 3D printed and hand-painted in an approximation of the normal maps colour scheme. This colour-scheme, which is an informational-visualisation process in 3D graphics, is constantly disrupted by changes in the output colour of four computer-controlled DMX lights. These colour changes, which are accompanied by the beat of war-drums, are triggered in real-time by fluctuations in the stock market. Specifically, each light changes colour every time the value of one of the four most valuable “AI” companies fluctuates up or down by one billion US dollars.
